The Ask A Vet Slide-On NFC & QR Code Pet ID Tag sits on your pet's collar and links to a free digital pet profile. A finder can use it to view the contact details and care information you choose to share.

A profile a finder can open

Scan the QR code with a phone camera or tap the NFC chip with a compatible phone. The profile opens in a browser, with no Ask A Vet app required for the finder. The tag needs no battery or charging.

Details you can update

Add owner and backup contacts, emergency instructions, allergies, medications, diet notes and vet details. Keep the profile up to date when your phone number or your pet's needs change, without replacing the tag.

The essential ID profile is free for the life of the tag. Optional app upgrades are available.

Slide-on attachment

The silicone tag slides directly onto the collar. Choose from Small, Medium and Large sizes. Collar fit depends on the tag size and the collar you use.

Scan alerts and location

With scan notifications enabled, you can receive an alert in the Ask A Vet app. Scan location depends on the finder's permission and available location data. This is an identification tag. It does not provide GPS or health tracking.

Does this tag track my pet’s location or health?

No. This is an ID tag only and does not provide GPS tracking or health tracking. If you want location + health features in one device, we recommend the Ask A Vet Premium Touchscreen Tracker.

Does the finder need the Ask A Vet app?

No. The pet profile opens instantly via QR scan (camera) or NFC tap (compatible phones). No app needed.

Does this replace a microchip?

We recommend both. Microchips are permanent but need a scanner and details can be outdated. Ask A Vet tags are designed for fast, visible, up-to-date ID that anyone can access instantly.

Is there a subscription fee?

The ID profile includes a free lifetime subscription for your and your pet’s details. Optional upgrades are available if you want extra Ask A Vet app features.

Will it fit my pet’s collar?

Most likely yes — choose Small, Medium, or Large depending on collar width and your pet’s size.
